Our Story

Our story begins back in 2006 during the opening release of a video game called Phantasy Star Universe. Unknowingly to us both we both happened upon the same voice chat lobby that day to team up to fight a dragon with a group of other adventurers.

After the dragon was slain, all the other members of the large bustling voice chat dropped out and left, leaving only a couple of British voices amongst what was quite often a sea of American ones. Nicole, grateful to hear someone British sounding for a change decided to stay and chat, as did Joe and the rest really is history. We remained good friends for some time, regularly chatting online late into the early morning. A notable occasion was Nicole’s 18th birthday in which Joe was the first to wish her happy birthday, probably at midnight.Years later, we met up and within a few trips of meeting in person we got together.

Throughout the years we’ve been to a huge amount of gigs, our first was Greenday, which ironically will be who we are seeing for the second time only a week after we are to be wed! Full circle. Our gaming habits (while much more reduced due to requiring sleep) are still very much there but have given way slightly for more hobbies which we share together, such as board games and card games. Really, together is the way we’ve always done everything, we’re a great team.

This wedding is really a celebration of who we are, and what we want is a fun, relaxed party which we can share with everyone we know and love. Expect some games and music, laughs and happy memories!

This would greatly help fund our honeymoon which is set for Japan in November.

Things to do Between Ceremony & Reception

To help you fill the time between our ceremony and reception, here are some of our favorite spots in Manchester for food, drinks, and attractions. Remember, we'll have light bites at 3 PM and pizza in the evening, so plan your mid-day accordingly!

Good Lunch/Brunch Spots:

• Moose Coffee: This place does brilliant American pancakes and hearty brunches. There are two in Manchester. The Piccadilly restaurant is fairly close to the venue Northern Monk. Visit Moose Coffee
• Ezra and Gil: One of the best breakfasts/brunches (that we know of) in Manchester. It gets busy, so sometimes there are queues, and you can't pre-book – but it's very nice! (Joe's favourite) Visit Ezra & Gil
• Idle Hands: Located almost across the road from the reception venue, Nicole loves this little coffee shop that also happens to sell (in her opinion) the best homemade pies in Manchester. It’s small, quirky, and always bustling. Great for a quick drink (but the brunches are excellent too – Nicole’s favourite). Visit Idle Hands
• El Gato Negro: This isn't for the cheapest of budgets, but this is a fantastic tapas bar with excellent quality food. I’d recommend booking this and checking out the menu. We really love the beef short rib from here. This tends to be the restaurant we really celebrate at. Visit El Gato Negro
• Sugar Junction: A particularly renowned tea room for a nice drink and perhaps a cheeky slice of cake is Sugar Junction. We’re new to this place, but it's been around for a very long time and has a great reputation. We loved our trip here, but what's not to love about cake? Visit Sugar Junction
• Mackie Mayor: Also not far from here is Mackie Mayor, a refurbished food hall like all the ones popping up seemingly throughout the country. It has many different types of food vendors here, and although we haven't tried every vendor, the ones we have had we thought were good quality. Nicole greatly enjoyed the tacos last time she went. Good for a quick bite and drink while exploring the Northern Quarter. Visit Mackie Mayor

Attractions to Fill Time:

• Shopping: The Arndale Centre is the main hub of Manchester shopping. Visit Arndale Centre
• Northern Quarter: The Northern Quarter is full of small independent shops and many nice bars. The streets are usually packed, and it's a good place to have a roam around on a sunny day.
• Afflecks Palace: Afflecks is a really quirky building full of unusual vendors, including retro and gothic clothing. Joe and I went there on our first date! Visit Afflecks
• Manchester Art Gallery: The art gallery is close to one of the Moose Coffee locations, and a nice browse. Visit Manchester Art Gallery
• Science and Industry Museum: The Science and Industry Museum is great for kids and adults alike. Visit Science and Industry Museum
• Manchester Museum (National History Museum): The National History Museum is a good look around to burn some time. Visit Manchester Museum

Getting Around Manchester:

• Metrolink (Trams): Manchester's tram network is a convenient way to travel across the city and Greater Manchester. Unfortunatly the nearest stations at Piccadilly Gardens are closed as the track is being replaced. Metrolink Network Map & Metrolink Information
• Free Bus: Manchester offers free bus services within the city center, making it easy to hop between key locations. Free Bus Information
• Walking: Manchester city centre is relatively compact and many attractions are within walking distance of each other.
